Archives & Collection
Collecting and preserving material related to the history of Etobicoke has always been part of the purpose of the Etobicoke Historical Society. To this end, the Society maintains an archives containing a wide range of objects relevant to the history of Etobicoke. It consists of over 1,100 accessioned items, including books, papers, paintings, photos, household objects, furniture, tools, linens and clothing. The EHS Archives also includes many records bearing on the history of the Society, which was founded in 1958. The core records consist of a fairly comprehensive collection of minutes of Board meetings including annual general meeting reports, financial reports including annual charitable returns, and the Society's newsletter – now called The Aldernews.
