contained within the Crest
are explained below.

The name of The Etobicoke Historical Society
is located around the upper edge

Above the shield is a Covered Wagon
representing the coming of the first settlers.

Upper portion of the shield is a bar containing:
a Cross representing early missionaries,
a Beaver pelt representing the fur traders,
a Cannon representing conquering armies

a Head represents
the Mississauga First Nations
from whom our land was purchsed in 1787.

Alder Leaves at the base of the Crest
remind us that Etobicoke means
'where the Alders grow'.
